About Colleen

Colleen Sinsky is the Youth Street Outreach Case Manager with Cascade Youth and Family Center and is involved in affordable housing advocacy in Bend, Oregon.

A native of San Diego, California, Colleen studied Economics and Creative Writing at Santa Clara University before spending two years as a Jesuit Volunteer and AmeriCorps volunteer doing street outreach and housing support in Portland, Oregon. She did social work with the homeless population for four years as a housing advocate and family case manager at JOIN: Connecting the Streets to a Home and is a passionate crusader against homelessness, having worked for advocacy organizations such as the Welcome Home Coalition and Street Roots newspaper.

Recently, Colleen worked with LifeWorks International as a leader for teen service-learning trips in Beijing, China. Colleen spent a few months in 2015-16 volunteering with refugees arriving on the island of Lesvos, Greece, and in camps along the northern border of Greece with Macedonia (FYROM).

Colleen believes in the power of storytelling to shift the cultural narrative around issues of social injustice. After spending two and a half years “vagabonding,” she is happy to return home to Oregon to stay.
